False information from Stem Cell Pioneers
The bulletin board Stem Cell Pioneers was created by two patients, Barbara Hanson and Jeannine Robertson, who are co-owners of a SeaChange for Life, company that distributes nutraceuticals and naturopathic supplements, and who have received multiple rounds of stem cell injections for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, at least some of which were provided by Feinerman and Nabavi at Stem Cell Biotherapy (who later ending up suing each other - a legal battle in which Feinerman has won the first round).
Their website is a forum for patients to discuss their experiences and exchange views on what is available worldwide. They have apparently decided that I am an enemy of truth and a tool of "Big Pharma". This is the most recent case in which I have been attacked as someone who hates stem cell treatments; I generally take note of these and then promptly ignore them.
For the record, however, I should state that I am not paid by the ISSCR, although I am a paying member of the society and have participated in various volunteer committees, including the recent task force on unproven stem cell treatments. I should also reiterate that I am not and have never been employed by a drug or biotech company, that I do not own stocks or assets of any kind (besides my house, car and meager savings), that I do not have commercial interests whatsoever (being employed by a publicly funded organization), and that I would very much welcome the introduction of effective stem cell based treatments. I therefore find it curious that Ms. Hanson and Ms. Robertson, who have overt financial interests in selling their version of the truth. I wish them luck with finding help with their medical condition, but I take exception to slander.

Panel at ISSCR
I just got back from San Francisco, where the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) was holding its annual meeting. As a pre-meeting event, the society co-organized with CIRM a public forum on travel by patients to receive unproven stem cell treatments, with a panel of speakers and plenty of time for questions for the audience. The panel included stem cell researchers Deepak Srivastava and Jeanne Loring, ophthalmologist and spinal cord injury patient Claude Gerstle, as well as Tim Caulfield and me, as investigators of the stem cell woo phenomenon.
UPDATE: A video of the panel is now posted on the CIRM website
Mr. Sipp goes on to trash Dr. F as well. We all need to comment on any of the news articles discussing any of this. ISSCR's sole purpose is money! We will never get treatment in this country unless this changes. Dr. Centeno has put his practice on the line for our cause. We need to support him any way we can. If you see something that any of us can comment on, please post it. Thanks to Politicolnews.com and some of the others that Barbara has listed, word is finally getting out about adult stem cell treatments. People that have had treatments are commenting. The news follows comments on these items of interest. Representatives in Congress probably do as well. We need to let them know where we stand.
