Don't forget teatime! If anyone is going to this or knows anyone going, it would be nice to get a review of the symposium.

Regenerative Medicine: A New Frontier for Therapeutic Intervention

11th March 2010
Riverside, Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge

Regenerative Medicine is one of science?s new horizons, holding the promise of groundbreaking new therapies to repair, replace or regenerate disease damaged cells, tissues or organs. It is a multi-disciplinary field of research which is acquiring increasing importance in drug discovery and development portfolios but the realisation of this promise depends on overcoming a number of significant challenges.

This SMR symposium brings together a panel of international speakers across the breadth of research and development in the field of Regenerative Medicine to present and discuss the advances that are currently being made. Biomedical approaches to novel clinical therapies will be discussed including induction of regeneration by biologically active molecules, stem cell therapies, and tissue engineering. The basic features of embryonic stem cells and how they may lead to human therapies will be highlighted.

A number of case studies on important new approaches to Regenerative Medicine will be presented by both academic and industry leaders in the field, and the challenges of conducting clinical trials in this area will be discussed.
