Dear Friends,
As anyone had any success or awareness of any stem cell treatment that has improved kidney insufficiency?
Would appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you.
One of the Catholic Hospitals in South Korea did something with kidney disease a couple of years ago. You may want to look it up and see if you can find anything more.
Also, I just read that the hormone relaxin has increased the GFR in several animals http://endo.endojournals.org/cgi/reprint/148/9/4259. Look under the "conclusions" to find this point about Relaxin. I was wondering if NIH would have an interest in testing this in humans with who have poor GFR? Diabetics and hiv patients are among the most common groups nationwide with this problem. You might want to write Dr. Kingston kingtonr@mail.nih.gov, the NIH Director, and ask him how come he won't study Relaxin in humans.
The Netherlands reported a major breakthrough in January 2009 http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090128074622.htm
This interest me because my GFR is going down and one of my chemotherapy drugs causes tubular necrosis.
It would be nice if you would do some internet research on what South Korea is doing. They were supposed to have been one of the early places to actually do human trials on kidney repair. Also, UCSF supposedly was doing something related to diabetes and kidney disease, but I don't know if it went very far. It hadn't gone very far as of 2005.
Let us know what you find out about kidney disease in South Korea
;)
